FAQ

Find out the most common things our guests ask us so that you can be fully prepared to enjoy your food tour through some of Boston's most iconic neighborhoods with Yummy Walks.

Do I have to purchase tickets in advance? Can I pay with cash?

Tickets must be purchased in advance, and tours often sell out quickly. To maximize your chances of getting the day and time you prefer, please book well in advance. Tickets can only be purchased with a Visa, Mastercard or American Express. Cash is not accepted.

If a tour is sold out can I get on a waiting list?

We do not provide a waiting list. If a date is sold out, please check our Yummy Walks tour calendar for available tickets on one of our other food and culture tours. There is always a chance that we will add an additional tour if a specific time slot is sold out. You can contact us by visiting our contact page to let us know what date you are interested in, or via the contact link while booking on EzTix.

What should I expect if I take a Yummy Walk Tour?

Our tours are led by experienced Yummy Walks tour guides. During our tours you will learn about the history and culture of a neighborhood while enjoying delicious food specialties representative of the area. Most of the food tastings are served while standing in or outside of the food establishment. There is one sit-down tasting that takes place in a restaurant on each of our tours. This tasting takes about 20-25 minutes and will allow everyone to enjoy themselves in a relaxed manner. While on the tour we go in and out of food establishments, walk down interesting streets, and learn about the fascinating history and culture of a neighborhood.

Are Yummy Walks appropriate for children?

Our tours have been developed for food and history lovers. In our vast touring experience we have found that younger children might be indifferent, fidgety and may not fully appreciate our tours. More importantly, their disinterest could interfere with the exciting experience which Yummy Walks has carefully crafted for you. Whether to bring your child or not is ultimately up to your discretion, but please note that all children, regardless of age, need a paid ticket. We do offer a discounted rate for children ages 12 and under. Please also note that strollers are not permitted on the tour, due to the many narrow sidewalks that we walk on, the uneven cobble stone streets that we cross, and the very small shops that we visit. If you have further questions pertaining to tickets for children, please contact us by visiting our contact page.

How much walking is involved? Is it a fast-paced tour?

We are on our feet for approximately 3 hours. We cover about 1.5 miles and walk at a casual pace. Please note that there are some stairs that we navigate during the tour. If stairs are a problem for you or any of your guests, please let us know by including a "Message to the Seller" when purchasing your tickets so we can do our best to accommodate your needs.

How much food is served on the tours?

There are 5-6 stops on our tours where you will enjoy a generous serving of food. For most people there is more than enough food that lunch before or after the tour is not necessary. Come hungry!

What establishments will we visit on the tour?

We visit various restaurants and one of these will be a sit down tasting. We also will visit bakeries, grocers and other establishments representative of the area. The foods you will enjoy include many Boston favorites and vary for each tour. Read more about the tour stops here:

What if I have dietary restrictions or food allergies?

Please let us know if anyone in your group has a dietary restriction when purchasing your tickets. As long as we know well in advance, we can often accommodate your needs. If we do not find out about your dietary restrictions until the day of the tour, it is usually impossible for us to accommodate your needs. Additionally, there are some foods on the tour that are very difficult to replace depending on the shop or restaurant. At these stops, you may not be able to participate in the food portion of the stop, depending on your specific dietary restriction. We will always do our best to accommodate each person's needs. Please contact through our contact page before booking if you would like to confirm ahead of time whether or not your dietary restriction can be accommodated.

Are the walking tours given in bad weather?

All of our tours are held rain or shine. You should dress appropriately for the day's weather conditions. In the rare situation where we are forced to cancel an event, ticket-holders will be allowed to reschedule to another time (subject to availability).

Definitely! Many of our attendees live right here in Boston. Locals often attend to learn about the neighborhood and the city in which they live as well as visiting food establishments they may have never tried. We think locals will find our food tours to be a fun and novel alternative to the usual leisurely lunch, and locals just might find a few new favorite haunts along the way.

If you would like to return to the meeting location, your guide will supply you with directions to return to the starting point. The Seafood and Chowda Tour will end within sight and a five minute walk from the start of the tour.
