Meet The Guides

Our Yummy Walks Guides are your connection to the rich history, tradition, and culinary offerings of Boston

Barbara

Food and travel have always been two of Barbara's passions.  Whether traveling through Europe or the big cities and small towns of North America, one of her favorite things to do is to explore local markets and try the regional cuisine.  For over 20 years Barbara has pursued those interests as both an over the road tour director/local guide and working in the world of food and catering.  "When leading a Yummy Walk I get a kick from people's reactions when I tell them that lobster was mainly eaten by the poor or ask them to guess what the special ingredient is in Boston baked beans.  Then I explain the historical significance of these and other foods we enjoy as we visit many of the sites on Boston's historic Freedom Trail".  She firmly believes that the best way to discover a culture or a people is through our stomach.

Elliot

Elliot grew up in an ethnic family in Brooklyn, New York where he was exposed to many different types of food .  After graduating  from Amherst College he attended Harvard Law School and found that his love was in teaching. He taught French and Spanish for forty years before retiring. He found that he can combine his love of teaching and food as a Yummy Walk tour guide.  On the North End Yummy Walk, Elliot can’t pick a favorite spot, as he loves them all.  However, one of the highlights for him is the stop at Artú where the tour group enjoys three different kinds of pasta and have the opportunity to converse and learn more about each other.  Elliot is fluent in  French, Spanish, and Italian.

Jeremy

Jeremy has been a tour guide with Yummy Walks since its inception.  A native of the Boston area, he likes to draw upon his knowledge from growing up in the area as a backdrop for his tours.  Beyond tours at Yummy Walks, Jeremy is a local high school Engineering teacher and enjoys running, hiking, and the music scene around Boston.  His favorite tour spot is Polcari's Coffee for its quaint neighborhood feel and favorite food is the Lobster Bisque at Mooo.

Chloe

Chloe grew up in Boston but has also lived in NYC, CA, CO and HI. A graduate of Pratt Institute , Chloe taught art at the high school level before setting out to start her own design business. In addition to tours, she also does commercial work. Chloe believes that experiencing new places, cultures and foods are among life's greatest joys. She has traveled to Namibia, Australia, Singapore, Borneo and extensively throughout Europe. Her favorite tour stops include the Skinny House and the lemon slush at Polcari's Coffee.

Luisa

Luisa spent the first 18 years of her life in Boston before exploring other parts of the country and world, including Chicago, Minneapolis and Germany. To her, Boston always has and always will be her preferred locale. When she's not conducting tours, acting or modeling, she enjoys eating, cooking, and exploring New England. Her favorite stop on the Boston Seafood and Chowda Tour is the No Name Restaurant, as it combines colorful local history with unbeatable, irresistible seafood chowder.

Margaret

Margaret feels as if she has been a tourist her entire life. When not leading tour groups she works in alternative energy and enjoys gardening. On the Freedom Trail tour, her favorite stop is the Granary Burial Ground because of the immense history surrounding one of Boston’s most historic sites. To Margaret, “tourist spots” don’t exist, rather, they are simply the best place to experience history and Boston. Her favorite food from the tour is the Boston Cream cupcake where she can talk about the history of this iconic Boston desert.

Robin

Robin has been a Boston tour guide for over twenty years. It came naturally to her as she sang and acted in high school and college. Robin earned her degree in social work and after briefly working with people of all ages in a multi-service center she spent five years as the office manager of a talent booking agency in Boston.  When joining Robin on a Yummy Walk she descriptively captures the imagination of all as they pass through her favorite part of Boston, the North End. The sea salt rolls at Mooo and the pastas at Artu's have scored a hit with her.  Robin enjoys baking, music, the Red Sox and antique collecting.

Darlyn

Darlyn has been in the tour business for over 20 years starting as  an “over the road” tour director and now focusing on planning and operations.  If you call the office,  Darlyn is usually the person that will answer your questions and make bookings. She firmly believes that culinary tours  such as Yummy Walks are the complete way to experience a destination and she goes on food tours whenever she travels.
